Alina Kokoschka
Mediator Neubrandenburg in tandem with Anna Wiese
"As a mediator in the New Patrons model, I experience how artistic approaches can bring people together — and enable them to speak and act collectively again. Often, these are people who previously had no idea that they shared goals or even wanted to create something together. That inspires me."
Alina Kokoschka enjoys connecting worlds – rural and urban, Western and (Middle) Eastern, historical and contemporary, analytical and creative. She does this as a mediator, author, curator, and scholar of Islamic studies. Brandenburg and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern are important spaces for her work. Here, she also develops curatorial-activist formats at the margins of Europe’s center with the collective TraumaTische GegenWarten. Art guides everything she does – as a tool of research, as a form of expression beyond language, and as a lens for societal processes.
