Association for Citizen-Commissioned Art and Mediation

The Association for Citizen-Commissioned Art and Mediation (Gesellschaft für Kunst und Mediation im Bürgerauftrag e. V.) represents the interests of mediators following the New Patrons action model in Germany . In addition to networking events and advanced training opportunities for members, the non-profit association ensures the quality of mediation and promotes the tried-and-tested method through public events.

The Protocol des Nouveaux Commanditaires (New Patrons Protocol) was drafted in France in 1990. It provides the basis for art projects in all disciplines developed and implemented at the initiative of citizens. The mediators accompany and moderate these processes. With their in-depth experience in the field of contemporary art, they act as the link between artists, administrations, local donors, and civil society.

In addition to representing interests, providing advanced training opportunities, and engaging in academic exchange, the Association for Citizen-Commissioned Art and Mediation is the point of contact for institutions, municipalities, and individuals who want to use the model for strengthening civil society actors. In doing so, it works closely with the Gesellschaft der Neuen Auftraggeber – GNA gGmbH (Society of New Patrons) and the Société Internationale des Nouveaux Commanditaires (International New Patrons Society).

FACHFORUM LANDWÄRTS. DOKUMENTATION

2025

The Fachforum Landwärts took place from December 10 to 11, 2024, in Hofgeismar. It was aimed at cultural practitioners who, in collaboration with civil society, are exploring new ways to activate citizens and strengthen the impact of their engagement. Especially in rural areas, it seems essential to draw on local knowledge and invite people into long-term collaboration rather than offering only short-term participation. This documentation brings together impressions and outcomes of the forum.
