Diana Wesser

Mediator in Saxony

“As an artist and mediator, I want to create spaces where people can meet one another and where overlooked voices become perceptible again. I experience the New Patrons model as a transformative practice that empowers people to actively shape their lived realities and to experience their own agency — an important contribution to strengthening civil society structures and preventing polarization and radicalization.”

Diana Wesser is a transdisciplinary artist, curator, and artistic researcher. Her international and local practice is grounded in specific places, social and historical contexts, and personal biographies. Her performances, audio walks, and socially engaged artistic projects focus on social-spatial relationships and processes. Since 2014, her participatory long-term project Leipziger Stadtteilexpeditionen (Leipzig District Expeditions) has explored the city of Leipzig through the perspectives of its residents, using a wide range of artistic participation formats. Diana Wesser is a member of the Association for Citizen-Commissioned Art and Mediation.
